Commitment to Innovation and Diversity
FPW Architects' commitment to design innovation and diversity is reflected in its client and project list. Rather than molding each project into an established "signature design style," FPW seeks to understand the unique characteristics of a particular client and to use these aspects to best advantage. Often the character of a particular project is developed in response to the local building tradition or landscape.

Projects range from a 21,000 square foot mufti-media educational facility to the rehabilitation of an early 19th century upper middle class plantation home into a museum. Other projects include the rehabilitation of several turn-of-the century train stations, outpatient healthcare projects, laboratory fit-ups and renovations, rehabilitation of existing physics labs damaged by fire, and the adaptive reuse of an existing school building for a community art gallery.

FPW's primary practice and interests have concentrated upon careful intervention and the articulation of a series of values that support or critique the built landscape. We view our practice as an embodiment of our obligations to the community and strive to achieve our clients' goals in a thoughtful and responsible manner. The goal of every project undertaken by FPW is to provide quality solutions to the challenges of each client and project. To achieve this mission, we constantly strive to meet the following principles:

BLUE RIDGE COMMUNITY COLLEGE - BUSINESS TRAINING CENTER

Our strength is in our people. It is the fundamental combination of expertise, experience, and enthusiasm that fires the teamwork approach so critical to a successful project. We seek to create an environment that is stimulating and provides opportunities for personal achievement, recognition, and acknowledgment.

Clients
Our clients are the life blood of our firm. We listen carefully to our clients and strive to understand their goals and expectations. The respect and trust of our clients is based upon our careful attention to their needs and our professional integrity and expertise.

Quality
We seek the highest level of design quality in our design solutions. This quality is based upon creativity, careful integration, and technical excellence.

Quality of Public Life
The firm's practice and interests seek to support the quality of public life within a community; be it urban, rural or academic. The sense of community and social focus can be achieved in all three contexts and we continuously seek to strengthen these connections through the promotion of the public realm and the life ft supports in the day-to-day activities of its citizens.
